This Signature is consistent considering a wide range of specific qualities including slant, flow, pen pressure, letter size and formation, and other characteristics typical of our extensive database of known exemplars we have examined throughout our hobby and professional careers. It is our considered opinion that the signature item is genuine.

🖋️ Ink & Medium

Pen Type: Blue felt-tip marker or fine-point Sharpie.

Ink Behavior: The color saturation is deep and even, showing that it was written with a fresh marker. The ink sits cleanly on the surface with no bleeding, typical of smooth, glossy photo stock.

✍️ Signature Flow

The “Matilda” section flows naturally with smooth, rounded curves, especially around the “M” and “a.”

The second portion (her surname) connects with a distinctive looping flourish — consistent with her genuine style where she often uses open, airy loops to balance her compact first name.

The large, open curve below the name shows confidence and a touch of personal flair, a sign of a practiced autograph.

🧩 Stroke & Pressure Characteristics

Flow: Continuous, steady rhythm without signs of hesitation.

Pressure: Moderate, creating uniform ink thickness throughout.

Pen lifts: Minimal — she appears to have completed it in two connected motions (name and underline flourish).

🔍 Authenticity Indicators

Smooth transitions between strokes and consistent ink density suggest live signing.

The presence of light ink variance at turns (thicker at curves, thinner on transitions) points to a genuine pen movement rather than a print or autopen.

The stylistic flow and proportions align with verified Matilda May examples.
